Naked scanners emit more radiation than expected

Well color me shocked. Shocked!

The TSA – never big on transparency or truth-telling, will “retest” its whole body imaging scanners in light of the discovery that they emit far more radiation than previously stated. But of course the levels are still far below those harmful to humans, the TSA assures us.

Sometimes the story speaks for itself. I’ll only add that while the health concerns are but one of the many reasons to continue opting out of these invasive, dangerous machines, the health issues have the highest potential negative impact, and so we should take this issue very seriously.

I join Rep. Jason Chaffetz in his calls for full disclosure of all data surrounding the naked scanners, and wholeheartedly support his efforts to limit their use for passenger screening.
